I love to read but I’ve never actually participated in any kind of reading challenge. When it comes to books, I don’t like to feel like I have to read a certain number by a certain date, or even review them in any particular way. Which is why, much as I’m happy to post reviews on Goodreads and Booklikes, I don’t do it on my blog. If reading became a chore, I would become a very cranky girl.
That said, my friends Jaime and Erin over at Fiction Fare, are holding a challenge that I can get behind. Basically, it’s to see how many of the books I consume are “real” live print books. Books that I can hold in my hand and turn the pages. (Mommy, what are these pages of which you speak? I only know percentage read …)
I counted my reads for the first time last year – about 176 of them. I think that I probably skew 60%/40% in favour of my Kindle vs paperbacks but this challenge got me wondering. So I’m in.
I’ll be writing wrap up posts each month around what real books I read. Join me, why don’tcha? Click here to sign up on their blog.
Here are the levels I can reach for:
1-10 – Real Book Newbie
11-20 – Real Book Enthusiast
21-30 – Real Book Snob
31-40 – Real Book Aficionado
41-50 – Real Book Hoarder
50+ – Real Book Queen/King
I’m going all the way for Queen, because I already speak about myself with the royal “We” so why not?
Are you still reading print books? Exclusively? Sometimes? Let me know in the comments section. And why not join in. We can keep each other company as we contribute to the destruction of the forests. 🙂
