The honour of the final Curl up of 2016 goes to Managed, a sizzler of a book that is a perfect holiday read.
It started off as a battle of wits. Me: the ordinary girl with a big mouth against Him: the sexy bastard with a big…ego.
I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I was upgraded to first class on my flight to London.
That is until HE sat next to me. Gabriel Scott: handsome as sin, cold as ice. Nothing and no one gets to him. Ever. He’s a legend in his own right, the manager of the biggest rock band in the world, and an arrogant ass who looks down his nose at me.
I thought I’d give him hell for one, long flight. I didn’t expect to like him. I didn’t expect to want him. But the biggest surprise? He wants me too. Only in a way I didn’t see coming.
If I accept his proposal, I leave myself open to falling for the one man I can’t manage. But I’m tempted to say yes. Because the real man beneath those perfect suits and that cool façade just might be the best thing that’s ever happened to me. And I just might be the only one who can melt the ice around his heart.
Let the battle begin…
Why I Love It:
Do I need to re-iterate my love of flirtatious banter? No? Good, moving on. Managed is simply brimming with it. It’s a long, slow, tantalizing simmer of sexual tension with a delicious release. Are Sophie and Gabriel both broken people? Of course they are. Is Gabriel broody? D’uh. In Callihan’s capable hands, these are both giant pluses. Zero annoying factor here, people. Our characters’ jagged edges just fit.
Sure, at first I thought I was in for a typical rock star world “look how rich/famous hot guy falls for simple girl” trope. Nope. Not only is there a valid reason for Sophie to be in this world, but there is a hell of a backstory that made me sit up and take notice because damn, did it complicate things. I read a lot of these stories and I do love to be surprised and delighted by a fresh take.
So here’s my suggestion: when the holiday madness gets too much, carve out a few hours, settle in with the beverage of your choice, and be prepared to read this puppy straight through from cover to cover.
Happy holidays my darlings, and may 2017 rain good fortune on you all!

Learned my 16 yr old thought the guys from One Direction were named Wade & Kyle. Even I know better than that. Good job, honey. Good job.
